NAGA CITY — This year marks the launch of the latest flagship phone from newcomer Vivo Smartphones. Vivo Smartphones started back in 2009. Despite being a Chinese smartphone maker, in the league with Oppo and Lenovo, it is perhaps the latest brand to enter the country, and one of the most aggressive ones in marketing. Vivo has recently partnered with the biggest sporting events and names, with NBA star Stephen Curry as one of its endorsers in the global scene, and being a major sponsor for the Indian Premier League in 2016 and 2017, but the biggest advertising campaign it has launched recently is being the official smartphone brand of the 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cup, yep you read that right, FIFA, overtaking Samsung as FIFA’s official smartphone brand in previous games.

Now, moving to our main point, Vivo recently launched the V5s along with different mall tours across the country, one of which stopped by last June 10-11 here at SM City Naga, we took a look at Vivo’s latest smartphone, the Vivo V5s.

First Impressions

The Vivo V5s looks like any other Chinese smartphone, the ones from Oppo and Lenovo, yet what differentiates the V5s from other brands is that it focuses mainly on the front camera. With a whopping 20 Megapixel shooter up front, and a softlight flash beside it, it’ll tempt even your grandma to take a selfie in almost any situation. Alongside the 20 Megapixel shooter, we have a 13 Megapixel Shooter up back, now that might sound a bit less stellar than the one up front but don’t underestimate it, the 13 Megapixel rear camera is packed with a Sony BSI Sensor, so you get crisp and clear shots in almost any situation.

The processor of the V5s is not flagship grade but does its work, it’s a 1.5Ghz Octa-Core processor bundled with a 4GB RAM and 64GB Storage so you get smooth multitasking out of the box, and the 64GB storage is also expandable, up to 256GB, using the second slot of the hybrid dual sim setup, so, yeah, its a bummer if you want to use two sims and want to use a micro SD card at the same time.

The Vivo V5s runs on Funtouch OS on top of Android 6.0 Marshmallow, upgradeable to Android 7.0 Nougat soon. You also get a fingerprint sensor for added security and the best part of the Vivo V5s is that the phone is durable enough to drop it from a certain height without the phone breaking up to smaller pieces, or the screen cracking.

So yeah, there you have it and do watch the video above to know what happened at the Vivo V5s Mall Tour at SM City Naga.
